Education

Our education system has been a source of pride for Wisconsin residents since our decision to form our “free” school system in the 1830’s. Of course we all know that our schools are not free. Our commitment to supplying public instruction to our children and adults has its costs, but the return on our investment in education in Wisconsin will provide many benefits to this state.

I strongly support our continued commitment to our local public schools, state technical and university systems. I recognize that the future of Wisconsin is still rooted in the education of our residents and their preparation to take part in the new economy.

If we are to be successful we must build on our progress, continue to be innovative and anticipate future needs. That takes time, commitment and above all, money. I am committed to ensuring the state budget supports our local schools, the university system and our technical colleges.
